We all know the saying ‘time is precious’, and how true it is because once it’s gone it’s gone, we can’t get it back.
Running a business is constant, with day to day pressures and we usually find ourselves wearing many hats and managing time is a skill sometimes we have to work at. At the end of the day if we haven’t achieved what we needed to do or set out to do, then another day slips by and we’re not getting the things done, adding to our frustration, workload and stress.
Here are 3 easy tips to help you manage your time:
-
Use the 3 D’s – Do it, Dump it or Delegate it. Whatever work needs to be done, then pigeon hole it into one of the 3 D’s and work on it.
-
Be prepared – take 5 minutes before you leave work to sit down and write your to do list; so you’re ready to go first thing in the morning, prioritising your list for maximum outcomes.
-
Put a deadline on it – commit to a time to achieve the task and don’t get side-tracked into doing something else or procrastinate, especially if it is a task that you’re not relishing doing.
So to manage your time, be as productive as possible, be disciplined, use your time to the best advantage, don’t let time wasters get in your way and make the most of your down-time.
